I value accessibility, and not just for myself - I want the people I deeply care about to live fully and freely into all God created them to be and to experience. If togetherness is a leafy, flourishing tree, I’m sizing up opportunities for us.

Yet, the vertical and horizontal beams of the cross stand in place of all the marks I hold against myself and others. As Amy Julia Becker says, “God brought Jesus back to life for all sorts of reasons starting with the big and important ones like vindicating Jesus’ life and his peaceful kingdom. But God also brought Jesus back to life so that he can live in us, so he can whisper to us on those rainy, cranky, not-feeling-holy-at-all days.”

As someone who cares deeply for people who live with disabilities, I'm burdened by dehumanizing claims and actions which have potential to imperil their quality of lives and livelihoods. I struggle to discern how to respond. Anything I can do feels insignificant. Then I remember a principle of physics: purposeful, collective forces in the opposing direction can ease a load, propel a momentum shift, uplift.
